Privacy Policy

Last updated

Your privacy is important to us. Benefit Discounts is designed so that you can use it without sharing personal information. We do not offer accounts, we do not accept uploads, and we will never ask you for documents or personal details.

1. What information do we collect?

In Short: We collect limited, anonymous usage data. We do not ask for your name, documents, or other personal information.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how the site is used. This service does not use cookies and does not link a visit to you or to your IP address. For each visit, it records the date and time, the page viewed, the referring website, your approximate location (country, state, and city), and your device type, operating system, and browser. To distinguish one visit from another, it relies on a temporary identifier that is deleted within 24 hours. Your filters and search terms are removed from the page address before any data is sent, so they are never collected. For more information, please see Vercel’s privacy documentation.

2. How does our web host process your information?

In Short: Our hosting provider processes your IP address to deliver the pages you request.

This site is hosted by Vercel. As with any website, the hosting provider processes your IP address and the page you request in order to deliver it, and keeps server logs for a short period. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors.

3. Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?

In Short: No. We do not use cookies. Some of your preferences are stored in your browser and are never sent to us.

Certain information is stored only in your browser and is never sent to us. Your current filters and search are kept until you close the browser tab. If you select Save on this device, your selected benefits and state are stored in your browser until you select Forget saved filters. Programs you save are stored in your browser until you remove them, and any saved-programs file you export or import is processed entirely within your browser. Your preferred language is also stored, so that the site opens in that language on your next visit.

4. What happens when you share a link?

In Short: A shared link carries your filters only if you choose that option.

When you select Share the site, the link contains only the site’s address. When you select Share with your filters, the link includes your selections, so anyone who receives it can see the benefits, state, and categories you selected, as well as your search terms.

5. What is our stance on third-party websites?

In Short: We are not responsible for the privacy practices of the websites we link to.

Each program links to the website of the company or organization that operates it. We do not notify them that you came from this site. Once you leave Benefit Discounts, the privacy policy of the website you visit applies.

6. Reporting a problem

In Short: Reports are submitted through a Google Form and are used only to review the entry.

The Report a problem link opens a Google Form with the name of the program you were viewing already filled in. You do not need to sign in, and your email address is not recorded unless you choose to provide it in the optional email field, which is needed only if you would like a reply. The information you submit is received by Google and by us, and the form is subject to Google’s privacy policy. We use your report solely to review the entry and to respond to you, and we never share it with anyone else. Please do not include case numbers or other personal details.

7. How can you contact us about this policy?

If you have questions or comments about this policy, you may email us at contact@benefitdiscounts.org. We will receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this information solely to respond to you and to review the entry you contacted us about, and we never share it with anyone else.

8. When and with whom do we share your information?

In Short: We do not sell or share information about our visitors.

We do not sell or share information about our visitors, and we do not allow other companies to track you on this site. No third party processes any data other than Vercel, as described above, and Google for a problem report you choose to send.

9. Controls for Do-Not-Track features

Because this site does not track you, it functions the same way whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.

10. Do we make updates to this policy?

In Short: Yes, we will update this policy as necessary.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page.
