Accessibility
Last updated
Benefit Discounts is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities, including people who rely on a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, or other assistive technology. Many people who receive SSI or SSDI have a disability, so accessibility is a priority for us.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for improving accessibility for people with disabilities. Benefit Discounts is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the site do not yet meet the standard, and we are working toward meeting the remaining requirements.
Measures to support accessibility
- Text has sufficient contrast against its background in both light and dark mode.
- A visible focus indicator shows where you are when navigating with a keyboard.
- Filter sections and benefit explanations indicate to screen readers whether they are open or closed.
- Animation is turned off when your device is set to reduce motion.
- The Share window can be used with a keyboard and a screen reader.
- Each page identifies its language to your browser and screen reader.
Limitations and alternatives
- When you change filters, the updated number of programs is not announced to screen readers.
- There is no link to skip directly to the main content.
- The site has not yet been fully tested with a screen reader.
- The Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and this statement are available in English only.
Third-party content
Every listing links to the company or organization that operates the program. We do not control those websites, and their accessibility varies.
